In the world of F1, if a quote isn’t submitted within 3 hours of an enquiry, the opportunity is lost. To meet this challenge, ShearXL has developed an innovative quoting process that enables rapid responses. Coupled with a vast stock of materials to handle urgent requests, ShearXL ensures that tight timelines are met without compromise.

To further enhance this capability, ShearXL now reserves a percentage of its 3-axis and 5-axis machining capacity each week specifically for live F1 orders. Leveraging cutting-edge Hypermill CADCAM software and a highly flexible workforce, the team has achieved a remarkable milestone: a 100% on-time delivery KPI during the first six months of production.

This rapid service has attracted significant new business, with both new and existing customers eager to take advantage of ShearXL’s efficiency.

“We were receiving constant enquiries for rapid-turnaround F1 work but struggled to accommodate them within our existing business model. To address this, we set up a dedicated F1 production cell with 3-axis and 5-axis machine tools. Most importantly, we selected a team of flexible, highly skilled programmers and machinists to deliver these parts quickly. Our programmers are prepared to work remotely, even late into the evening if necessary. Using 100% simulation, we can confidently load billets into the machines and run lights-out machining without requiring on-site staff.

This approach has significantly improved our efficiency, allowing us to move from purchase order to production within 4 hours. As a result, we consistently meet our customers’ aggressive delivery requirements on time and in full.

I’m incredibly proud of our team and their ongoing hard work, which has enabled us to achieve 100% on-time delivery during the first six months of this cell’s operation.”
